Native Trails Comes to Scottsdale
By Kent Berk on January 9th, 2014 in ARIZONA, BLOG, SCOTTSDALE
Beginning this month, you can experience a cultural journey through exhibitions of traditional Native American music, dance, and art.
Native Trails, an event that has been delighting Scottsdale residents and visitors for more than a decade, returns this year with a number of great programs.
The Native Trails programs will share the history and culture of the Native American tribes indigenous to the Arizona and Southwest region, including the Hopi, Din (Navajo), San Carlos Apache, and Akimel Au-Authm. The programs will features music, dances—from the Southwest Horse Dance to the inter-tribal pow wow dancing—and art. Native American artisans will also sell hand-crafted jewelry, baskets, and paintings.
Each of the performances is set to take place at Civic Center Park, nearly every Thursday and Saturday until April 8 of this year. The performances are also free!
I encourage you to attend these exciting, educational events. You and your family will enjoy breathtaking performances while learning about many of the cultures that make up our region.
