Phoenix, Arizona Elder Law

Vulnerable adults deserve the care and attention of a qualified medical center or caregiver. Too often, however, their physical and mental frailty leads to abuse. As elder law attorneys, we learn of heartbreaking situations, such as those where trusted family members or friends create—or do nothing to stop—financial, physical, and mental elder abuse.

Finances are among the first places where our clients say they suspect abuse. Caregivers will often help themselves to bank accounts, property in Phoenix, and other assets. Physical and mental abuse is also, unfortunately, common. People who are charged with taking care of a vulnerable adult instead mishandle their care—whether unintentionally or deliberately.

Some elderly people legitimately need guardianship or conservatorship proceedings for their own safety and benefit. Others have been told in error to give up their rights.

Our elders deserve to be given the help they need when it is appropriate. They also deserve respect and protection from abuse.

Under Arizona law, people who abuse or take advantage of vulnerable adults face harsh penalties. If you believe your loved one is being abused or exploited, you may report the abuse to the authorities and consider contacting an experienced attorney.

At Berk Law Group, P.C., our skilled Phoenix, AZ elder law attorneys try to help protect adults with family members and friends who might be trying to take advantage of them in their time of need. If you have any questions or need assistance in such a matter, do not hesitate to contact us.
